TEEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Full Description:

The Teen Advisory Committee (now in excess of 275 teens), was formed in late Summer 2007 with the support of Mayor Hornik in an effort to give the teens of Marlboro a voice in our local government and to enhance their leadership skills. This committee offers our Teens the chance to share their ideas and visions to help make Marlboro a great town for them and for our entire community. TAC members look forward to giving back to their community and have formed the following sub-committees in an effort to support Mayor Hornik’s “Do Good” initiative. TAC also meets as a group at large every other month in the Town Hall Court Room.

TAC Subcommittees:

a. Computer/Cell Phone Training: This subcommittee will go in groups of 2 teens per every 1 senior to the homes of Seniors and teach them how to send and receive e-mails, surf the internet, program their cell phones etc. Cell phone programming sessions may also include group events where seniors can bring their cell phones and instruction manuals for individual programming by TAC members. For more info click here:

b. Classified Jobs: This subcommittee will help local employers who are looking for part time and summer workers post classified job listings on the Township website. This site is live at

teen-classifieds.html

c. Social Outreach and Interaction: This subcommittee will liaise with other groups and individuals in our Town. Seniors in our Town's assisted living facilities have been identified as an initial group for TAC to work with. Currently contemplated is regular Wii game interaction with them.

d. Marketing and Development: This subcommittee will focus on increasing the number of TAC members and identifying and implementing fundraising ideas.

e. Teen Taxi: This subcommittee will focus on logistical issues such as pick-up/drop-off times/days and locations, and will also coordinate with the Teen Taxi drivers.

Our proactive initiative requires that each member of TAC get involved and work on at least 1 subcommittee.

Our goal is to have 500 active members and we are confident that we will reach that goal in the very near future.Additional subcommittees will be forming as well. We appreciate everyone's efforts to date, and are excited about the good work that lies ahead.
